Madrid, 11 February 2025.<\/strong> Today marks the tenth anniversary of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a key date for continuing to advance towards gender equality in science, technology and research. Proclaimed by the United Nations in 2015, this day recognises the fundamental role of women in the scientific field and seeks to promote their access to disciplines in which they have historically been underrepresented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities in the academic and scientific spheres. It is essential to strengthen policies that encourage the participation of women by facilitating their access to education, research and leadership across all disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UN resolution calls for the implementation of strategies to promote the education and training of women and girls in STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, arts, architecture and mathematics). In this regard, we consider it necessary to promote mentoring programmes, support networks and innovative projects that encourage their participation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diversity in research is essential to driving innovation and social progress. We will continue to contribute to ensuring an academic environment in which talent and scientific vocation are free from gender-based barriers. We reaffirm our commitment to a future in which women and girls are also protagonists in the advancement of knowledge and innovation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
