Spanish and Moroccan universities agree to strengthen academic and research cooperation in the I Moroccan Hispanic Forum

The president of CRUE and rector of the Universitat Jaume I, Eva Alcón, has inaugurated the I Hispanic-Moroccan Forum of Universities, organized by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities at its headquarters. The objective of this international meeting, in which delegations from different universities have also participated, is to «strengthen academic and research cooperation» between the university systems of both countries. The Spanish Ministry, Diana Morant, also participated in the Forum, alongside the Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, and Professor Mohammed Larbi Kerkeb, the representative of Moroccan universities’ presidents.
Furthermore, the president of CRUE has promoted that, in addition to the 34 collaboration agreements signed between nine Spanish universities and twenty Moroccan institutions, this meeting will also result in new proposals for initiatives that will «further consolidate relations.» In this sense, she has valued «knowledge diplomacy» and has stressed that the internationalization of teaching, research, and knowledge transfer «forms a formidable bridge of understanding between nations.»
Minister Diana Morant has highlighted the commitment of Spain and Morocco to «collaborate and promote the mobility of students and teaching and research staff» and recalled that, in 2022, the last year for which there is complete data, they were enrolled in our Spanish universities 7,500 students of Moroccan nationality. Finally, Minister Abdellatif Miraoui has spoken of the importance of strengthening bilateral collaboration, and the need to support researchers, teachers, and student mobility.
