Madrid, 26 May 2025. In light of the intensification of the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian population, particularly in the Gaza Strip, the Governing Board of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) once again wishes to join the international outcry calling for the immediate cessation of all forms of violence against the civilian population, regardless of origin, and for full compliance with international humanitarian law.
Likewise, the Governing Board of CRUE aligns itself with the call addressed to the State of Israel to allow, without delay, the entry of the necessary humanitarian aid into Gaza, in order to prevent the collapse of the Palestinian population in the face of the severe shortage of drinking water, food and essential medicines.
True to its commitment to peace, understanding between peoples, the defence of human rights and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, CRUE reiterates the urgent need to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire. It also considers it essential to keep channels of dialogue and mediation open, based on respect, international legality and the principles of diplomatic engagement.
