Madrid, 8 November 2025. The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Josep Antoni Rom, Rector of the Universitat Ramon Llull. His loss represents an unexpected and profound blow to the entire university community.
On behalf of the universities that make up CRUE, we extend our most sincere condolences to his family, friends and to the whole community of the Universitat Ramon Llull, and convey our support and solidarity during these deeply painful moments.
We remember Josep Antoni Rom as an outstanding individual, firmly committed to the University as a space for knowledge, dialogue and service to society, and to the strengthening of the Spanish university system. His example and his work will endure as part of the collective legacy of those who believe in the University as a driver of progress and social cohesion.
