Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra), 3 February 2026. The Universitat d’Andorra has been hosting, since yesterday Monday 2 February and through today, a seminar organised by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), jointly with the University of Andorra. The event brings together around twenty rectors, vice-rectors and heads of international relations from universities across Spain.
Under the title “The International Dimension of the University”, the seminar is conceived as a space for reflection on the challenges and opportunities facing higher education in a cross-border context, as well as on the key elements of universities’ internationalisation strategies.
The opening session, held yesterday, featured contributions from the President of CRUE and Rector of Universitat Jaume I, Eva Alcón; the Rector of the University of Andorra, Juli Minoves; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Andorra, Imma Tor; and the Ambassador of Spain to Andorra, Carles Pérez-Desoy.
In her address, the President of CRUE highlighted the progress made by the Spanish university system in terms of internationalisation, noting that “the share of international students enrolled in official degree programmes has now reached 8.8%, with particularly strong growth at master’s and doctoral levels, although there is still room for improvement compared with reference countries”.
Alcón also emphasised a broad understanding of internationalisation, which “goes far beyond student mobility and includes strategic institutional alliances, international networks, academic and scientific cooperation, and an appropriate international projection of knowledge”. She further underlined Spanish universities’ commitment to public policies and to strengthening their international partnerships.

Programme and Closing Session
The seminar programme includes two working sessions and a plenary lecture, with the aim of discussing the international positioning of higher education institutions and sharing good practices in this field.
The closing session will take place today and will feature interventions by the President of Crue–Internationalisation and Cooperation and Rector of UNED, Ricardo Mairal; the Rector of the University of Andorra, Juli Minoves; and the Minister for Institutional Relations, Education and Universities of the Government of Andorra, Ladislau Baró.
