Madrid, 10 July 2026. The European Commission has selected 20 alliances under the 2026 Erasmus+ call for proposals for the European Universities initiative. Each alliance will receive up to €7.2 million over the next two years. Of the selected alliances, 19 include at least one Spanish institution, with a total of 20 Spanish universities receiving funding. All of them are members of CRUE, reaffirming Spain’s prominent role in one of the flagship initiatives for cooperation and integration within the European Higher Education Area.
The call has a total budget of €145.6 million. In addition to the 20 funded alliances, two proposals have been placed on the reserve list, while four have been awarded the Seal of Excellence. With this latest call, the European Commission now supports 65 European Universities alliances established since the initiative was launched.
These results highlight the strong commitment of Spanish universities to the development of the European Higher Education Area and their continued investment in international collaboration models that foster academic excellence, educational innovation, research, and the mobility of students, academic staff, researchers, and professional services staff.
