Information session on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) call on entrepreneurship and innovation in Higher Education

Madrid, December 23, 2022. Crue Universidades Españolas organised, in collaboration with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an online information session on the call addressed to universities within the EIT HEI Initiative++ on Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education.

The meeting was held through the Zoom platform on 11 January 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with the participation of Dr. Dolores Volkert, Head of the EIT HEI Capacity Building Initiative, who leads the strategic and operational activities, focused on establishing an ecosystem of inter-institutional alliances and synergies. Afterwards, a workshop was organized, moderated by Prof. Senena Corbalan, Vice Rector for Research at the University of Murcia, in which participants has the opportunity to clarify any questions regarding this Call.

The EIT HEI Initiative on Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education published at the end of November the call inviting Higher Education institutions to design activities to enhance their entrepreneurial and innovation capacity. This edition, which will select up to 16 projects to receive up to 750,000 each, will focus specifically on fostering Deep Tech talent and innovation in European higher education in line with the new Deep Tech Talent Initiative.  Examples of activities that could be developed are the integration of Deep Tech competences in curricula or the support of Deep Tech start-ups and spin-offs.

The call is part of the EIT HEI Initiative on Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education, key to the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as part of its new strategy and the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda 2021-2027. The aim is to support higher education institutions, through advice and access to the EIT innovation ecosystem, or funding such as that offered by this call, in a way that supports the development of innovation action plans in universities.
