Madrid, 13 April 2026. The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and the University of Andorra (UdA) have established a strategic partnership to strengthen academic, scientific and institutional cooperation through the creation of a biennial higher education seminar.
The agreement was formalised by the President of CRUE and Rector of Universitat Jaume I, Eva Alcón, and the Rector of the University of Andorra, Juli Minoves, at an event held today at CRUE headquarters. The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Andorra to Spain, Eva Descarrega, and CRUE’s Secretary General, Mª Teresa Lozano.
The seminar, to be held every two years at the University of Andorra, will serve as a permanent platform for analysis, dialogue and the exchange of experiences in higher education. It will address key challenges facing the sector, with particular focus on internationalisation, while promoting university cooperation and the development of joint initiatives within the Iberian space.
“This biennial seminar will be a key instrument to strengthen university cooperation and to consolidate a stable platform for dialogue on the challenges facing the sector,” said CRUE President Eva Alcón. “Our partnership with the University of Andorra reinforces our international outlook and our commitment to the exchange of knowledge and good practices,” she added.
For his part, the Rector of the University of Andorra, Juli Minoves, stated: “This agreement strengthens our ties with a close and important academic community with which we have already built strong collaborative links. The UdA will soon celebrate its 40th anniversary, and we aim to continue working with rectors’ conferences from neighbouring countries while offering a cross-border academic space for dialogue in the heart of the Pyrenees.”

The initiative builds on the seminar held in February 2026 at the University of Andorra, focused on internationalisation, which brought together leading academic and institutional representatives. With this agreement, both institutions consolidate the seminar as a permanent forum for collaboration in higher education.
The agreement, with an initial duration of four years, establishes a stable framework for cooperation that will enable the development of joint activities and strengthen ties between the university systems of Spain and Andorra, with broader projection across the Iberian and Ibero-American contexts.
